Uriah Courtney was wrongfully convicted of kidnapping and rape in San Diego County, California and was sentenced to life imprisonment, serving eight years before he was exonerated and released on June 24, 2013. The California Innocence Project started working on his case in the fall of 2010successfully proved with DNA evidence obtained form the victim’s clothing that Uriah was not the perpetrator, but rather a match was found in the national Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) databank containing offender profiles of a local man who lived three miles form the crime scene and resembled Uriah.
